Trip Advisor Recommendations

Guest Blogger Logo from Roving JayI recently submitted my 50th review on Trip Advisor.  For my efforts I was awarded a Gold Star, and elevated to Top Contributor Status. As well as posting reviews, I’ve been contributing on the forums, and through an exchange earlier this year, I “met” Boo, who spent a week in the Bodrum area.

I’m a firm believer that personal recommendations are the life-blood of travel.  Although everyone is unique, and looks for different experiences and adventures on their holiday, it’s still great to read what holiday experience resonated with others.

This is the reason I started my Top 5 series, and I’m pleased to be able to share Boo’s recommendations with you:

1 Day Itineraries for the Bodrum Peninsula

An Evening in Gümüşlük

We did love Gümüşlük in the evening for the atmosphere and shopping. Trinkets and bracelets to take home for teenagers were well priced.

Bitez Boat Trip on the Kelebek II

Kelebek II I couldn’t recommend highly enough! It was so relaxing and the food was excellent

Public Beach in Yalikavak

The Public beach beyond the Dodo beach club is a great place to get away from the tourist masses. Most people using the beach are Turkish locals, renting BBQ’s and having big family days out. There is a little cafe and they will bring you drinks to the beach.

Camel Beach (Kargi Bay) – If you ignore the camels.

We used the sunbeds, got drinks and had a perfectly nice afternoon and early evening there at a cafe whose name I can’t remember, but had really nice toilets and a large carpark and shower, which was useful having checked out of our villa at 10.30 am and not needed to be at the airport till 9pm. The staff were lovely and the portions were huge and good value

Learning a few words of Turkish

Our Turkish is really very limited but hey, even just using the few words, greetings and pleasantries we know, got us made really welcome everywhere! Limitless cay; treats for the girls; lucky eye pins; and a big smile from most – especially when my youngest would ask ‘Hesap lutfen’!*
