There’s nothing more relaxing that a day boat trip from one of the coastal harbours around the Bodrum Peninsula. Today we’re featuring a guest post from a frequent visitor to the area, who provides us with a summary of his recent day boat trip on the Angle, which departs from the Bodrum Harbour, just south of the Halikarnas Night Club.

The Daily Boat Trip from Bodrum is a very relaxed laid back affair and definitely not for those in a rush!

We booked our trip through Onelli Travel (appeared to be pretty much the cheapest prices for what was very much the same trip offered by others) and had the option of either a maximum of 15 people or a boat that took up to 25 – we opted for the 25 but there was still loads of room to move about.

Our boat (Angle) was a small motor Gulet and was split into two levels. The lower deck there was a toilet and a small cabin where you could change, there was also shaded tables to sit and eat and above that was the open top deck that was basically a very inviting huge padded sun loungers with cushions, perfect for lazing about in the sun with a beer in your hand.

Passing St Peters castle Bodrum Turkey Boat Trip ExcursionI am sure the routes and itinerary vary a bit from trip to trip but ours started at 11;00 (pulled out of harbour at 11.20) and we made our way passed St Peters Castle and along the beautiful Bodrum coastline to the nearby Black Island (Karaada) where we moored for about half an hour.

The island had a small bar but more interestingly for 6 lira there was a small warmed mineral rock pool with a semi submerged tunnel that took you to a lit water cave where we sat and chatted with other travelers, it was quite surreal, and unexpected little treat.

After lunch we cruised across to Rabbit Island where we anchored for another over an hour so people could swim onto the beach and go for a wonder and if they had the energy chase rabbits.

After that it was the trip back to Bodrum harbour getting back on land by 17:15. All in all a wonderful, very relaxed and fun 6 hours which seemed to fly by, it was easy to lose 20 minutes at a time just watching the coast and islands go by as you sipped wine and chatted with fellow holiday makers in the sun.

Also a relatively cheap day out with the trip & lunch ticket only costing £8, alcoholic drinks were extra and were £3 each. Should we return to Bodrum (quite likely) the first thing I will be doing is booking another one!

Note: Prices are those quoted from Onelli Travel and appeared very competitive. Also, Sterling prices quoted may vary slightly owing to exchange rate.
