Whether you follow colourful hand-drawn sign, or the official white and blue sign, you’ll find it easy to find Art Street.

Yalkavak’s Art Walk is located on a narrow pedestrian street that is lined with a dizzying array of artwork created by local artists.

During the season there are also portrait artists available to create a sketch for you, and each time I’ve walked down Art Street there’s at least one artist huddled over their easel, whipping up a new artistic creation.

Whatever your visual preference, they’ll be artwork to catch your eye; from intricate depictions of street scenes or portraits, to loose swatches of colour creatively captured on canvas to convey an ambiance rather than a reality.

Yalikavak’s Art Walk supports the towns vision of itself as an artistic centre of excellence, and is just one of the many opportunities to view local talent.

Here’s a small sample of artwork from my first trip down Yalikavak Art Street:

Craft Stalls

Craft Stalls Yalikavak Turkey

After you’ve walked the gauntlet of the Art Walk, turn right towards the harbour and you’ll pass a row of craft stalls.

You’ll come across more of them scattered about, as you explore this area of Yalikavak.

Nearly all of the harbour towns and villages have at least a smattering of craft stalls to tempt you with local art, crafts and handmade jewellery.

They’re a great place to wander  along, whether you’re on the hunt for a gift, or just want to pass some time before or after dinner.

One of my favourite collection of craft stalls is held in Gümüşlük.  Each vendor’s space is small and compact, but this is where I’ve seen the most unique crafts on offer, although they come at a price!
